President's Message AdTalk December 2007

Michael SchumacherIt’s that time of the year already: there’s that nip in the air, which is just the harbinger of things to come; the gift buying is in full swing, even if not expected to be as vibrant as in years past; and marketing budgets for the year are all spent up.  So what better time to gather with friends to reminisce about the months gone by and to make new friends who may be with us for years to come?  At least that’s what I always understood is purpose of our annual Holiday Party, which this year returns for the first time in many to Mayfair Farms. So beware of the ghosts of holiday parties past; they might be still be lingering.

A special thank you Wendy Flanagan, the holiday party’s #1 champion for many years, and to all on the committee who’ve pulled off this fabulous, important event!  With the theme “Celebrate the Season Together,” the December 12th affair once again brings together members of AMA-NJ, ADCNJ, BMA-NJ, AWCNJ, MENG, NJ/IABC, PRSA-NJ, and the MCA-INJ. To find out what all these acronyms stand for, visit our Website at NJADCLUB.org.  That’s also where you’ll find information about upcoming programs, bios on our most recent Hall of Fame inductees, a section where you can find the right talent for your advertising-related needs, and lots more.

“To bring together” is also very much a part of the NJADCLUB’s goal and mission.  We strive to bring together individuals from many different kinds of companies—traditional and non-traditional ad agencies, corporations, media companies, printing houses, and all other types of businesses involved in what we loosely call “advertising.”

With anticipation we look forward to an exciting year filled with events and programs that will stretch our minds and exercise our good will.  But to accomplish all that we hope to requires many hands and minds.  So, if you can share some of your time, please let me know.  I’ll connect you with the appropriate committee where your talents and interests might be best employed, from our Wake-Up and Smartalk programs designed to educate and inform, to our annual Jersey Awards, where the top advertising talent in the state is recognized.
