GIANETTINO & MEREDITH has named NORMA JEAN FRIEND President of the Short Hills-based agency. One of the original four members of the G&M team, Friend succeeds Hall of Famer George Meredith, who retired in February. She also retains her position as Chief Operating Officer of the agency.


NORTH JERSEY MEDIA GROUP, Hackensack, received three General Excellence Awards from the NEW JERSEY PRESS ASSOCIATION in recognition of The Record, Herald News and The Montclair Times being named best in their category among New Jersey newspapers. The Record won for daily newspapers with over 60,000 circulation, the Herald News for daily newspapers with under 60,000 circulation and The Montclair Times for weekly newspapers with over 4,500 circulation. This is the first time that one newspaper company has won all three categories.

JOAN E. GERBERDING has joined ARBITRON OUTDOOR NEW YORK as Vice President of Sales. Formerly President of NASSAU MEDIA PARTNERS in Princeton, Gerberding is responsible for building Arbitron’s outdoor business by growing the existing client base and by implementing progressive sales and marketing strategies.

NASSAU BROADCASTING PARTNERS, LP, Princeton, has added AMY DAY and JIMMIE VEREAULT as national sales managers for Nassau Radio Network/ New England radio stations in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.

SMITH DESIGN, a brand design agency with offices in Glen Ridge, N.J., and San Jose, Calif., created the package design for Mott’s new apple sauce entry — Mott’s Magic Mix-ins and Skippy’s new line of peanut butter and granola snack bars.

MELISSA BANKS has joined nj.com, Jersey City, as marketing manager and has been appointed a member of the NEW JERSEY ADVERTISING CLUB board of directors. She will also write the “Surfing the Net” column in Creative Times.

THE STAR GROUP, Cherry Hill , has named TRACY DONOFRY, Creative Director/Senior Vice President, a managing partner, and has added eight staff members. Appointed were: BARBARA SWEENEY, Vice President, Operations Manager; GREG MOTYLENSKI, Senior Art Director; MARIA DILEO, Director, Design Group; RONALD BRATTON, Traffic Manager/ Print Production; TAMMY FINEGAN, Senior Media Planner; JESSICA CLEMENT, Associate Media Planner/ Buyer; CHRIS KOTSAKIS, MIS Manager; KRISTA SASSANI, Assistant to the CFO; JULIE KONTES, Executive Assistant/ Operations; and TEREZE KUNKEL, Account Executive. DAVID JOHN joined the agency as Senior VP/Partner, while CHRISTIAN KAMPER, also new to the agency, will serve as Associate Media Director.

MAYOSEITZ MEDIA, Blue Bell, Pa., the second largest media agency in the greater Philadelphia area, promoted STEPHANIE MOYER to Vice President/ Media Director. She was named by Newsweek as one of the top 100 media planners in the nation.

GREG PADLEY, an account supervisor at Denville and New York City-based RICHARTZ FLISS CLARK and POPE, has been elected President of the Business Marketing Association New Jersey Chapter.

Alan Grant’s WORDS & MUSIC, Bridgewater, selected by one of the nation’s top television production companies, Banyan Productions, Philadelphia, to serve as its official New Jersey voice-over studio location. Banyan is best known for the hit show “Trading Spaces.” Grant also formed a marketing alliance with Allstate New Jersey as its vendor for “Advertising On Hold” services for the rapidly growing 180-agency network in the state.

CREATIVE MARKETING ALLIANCE, Princeton Junction, named ANGELA CUZZO, Public Relations Coordinator; MARYANN FRISBEE, Staff Accountant; DAENA GHADIALLY, Membership Coordinator; SUSAN KURTAIN, Executive Assistant/Project Manager; and REBECCA OLKEIN, Association Administrator. The agency has also embarked on a total quality management process called Excellence in Quality or EIQ. The implemented program is aimed improving both employee and client communications and overall quality of productivity. Five CMA employees representing each department in the organization meet weekly to discuss areas for improvement and recommend solutions. It is cultivating a work atmosphere in which everyone can work harmoniously and achieve goals initiated by the team.

BATTISTA has been promoted to vice president of the NEW JERSEY BUSINESS & INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION and publisher of NEW JERSEY BUSINESS MAGAZINE.   In a series of accompanying moves: ANTHONY BIRRITTERI becomes Editor-in-Chief; GEORGE N. SALIBA, Deputy Editor; VINCENT SCWEIKERT, Advertising Director; AL LEONE, Advertising Manager; and DON HAHNES, Executive Publisher.
     

Oradell-based SIGMA GROUP has launched a new print advertising campaign for Global Investment Systems Ltd.’s specialized software for the securities and alternative investment industries. Using the tagline “Another Satisfied GIS Client,” the ads will run in Money Management Executive and International Fund Investment in
the U.S. and the UK.
