Ted Fattoross Dazzles Wake-Up-Call Folks with Charm, Insights, Truths About Life, Networking, Success
by Ralph Gonzalez

A combination of evangelist, stand-up comic and serious guru, Ted Fattoross spent his hour and a half at the 15th Wake-Up-Call seminar July 20 delivering a series of one-liners that had his audience at Borders Books, Music and Café in Livingston in stitches.

Do 12 things daily that scare you, he said, and therefore you’ll be come fearless. Don’t fear anything, not even a cubicle. Be comfortable in your own skin.

Be happy; it’s free. Surround yourself with 12 people whom you can call at 2 am for a hug at the Bendix Diner. Don’t judge; don’t pre-judge.

If you think outside the box, he said, the corporation will fire you. Instead, live outside that box. Striving for excellence is healthy; striving for perfection is neurotic.

Networking works
Noting that networking is doing the right thing, he suggested that once one is comfortable in his/her own skin, it comes easy and works. “Find a person in the corner who’s alone.” Being at ease comes from inside.

Ted Fattoross is the founder and CEO of Network Plus, a global membership organization that offers networking events throughout the world in local spots for local people. Its goal is to create the best environment for networking while offering a range of “plus” services that assist members in growing their businesses — through education, motivation and inspiration.

Tips on Selling Highlight of May 11th Session
Dan Shanok, president of TD Sales Enterprises, described his “New Business Menu — How to Fill Your
Plate” at the 14th workshop, held May 11 at Borders. Topics covered included how to warm up cold calls, how to get referrals, how to sell from strength without strong-arm tactics and how to work a network meeting.

Jim Wardell Returns Sept. 28

Next up in the popular series is a repeat of Jim Wardell’s “How to Give a Great Presentation.” Teaming up with his daughter Torey Reade, Media Manager at R&J Group, the seminar will cover how to use your voice, posture, eyes and energy; what to wear for best results; how and when to use visual aids; and how to be in control of questions and answers.

Formerly a regional sales manager with The Wall Street Journal, Jim Wardell helped create, grow and sell new publications, sections and reports for WSJ. He is a well-known business leader, skilled presenter and a former member of the New Jersey Ad Club’s board of directors.

The workshop is set for 8 am at Borders Books Music and Café on Route 10 in Livingston. For directions and to register, call Pat Hanley at 201.998.5133 or visit www.njadclub.org. Cost is $25.00 for members, $30.00 for non-members and $35.00 at the door.
