Held in conjunction with
the Art Directors Club of New Jersey, the Public Relations
Society of America and the International Association
of Business Communicators, the highly popular event
featured schmoozing and good food along with with brief
perspectives on getting the most out networking. Speakers
were Barton J. Bierman of J. H. Cohn and Conor Smith,
regional manager of Boss Staffing, which sponsored the
event.
Each shared helpful ideas
on crowd- working tactics ranging from how to introduce
oneself and wearing nametags on the left side to what
works and doesn’t work in small talk, plus how
to approach the job market.
Guests who drew their names
from a bowl of business cards described their companies.
When Andy O’Hearn of Reckitt Benckisser announced
he was seeking outsourcing talent, he drew long lines
of eager freelancers.
Highly pleased with attendance,
Ad Club President Gary Denburg thanked program co-chairs
Stu Bodow and John Howlett and noted that more joint
meetings are in the offing. “This group of organizations
represents close to 1,000 members from all levels and
areas of business. Given the right topic, we’re
guaranteed a large audience.”
