Annual Jersey Awards
Cedar Grove-based Brian J. Ganton Associates’

for Belgard brick and paving stone company took Best
of Show at tonight’s 38th Annual Jersey Awards
dinner and ceremonies at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.
The brochure took the Best of Collateral award, as well;
Ganton additionally won a first and second place in
the event.
Last year’s Best of Show winner,
the Scheer Advertising Group, won Best of Television
for the second straight year for its “Back to
School Labels” commercial prepared for Burlington
Coat Factory. The South Orange agency, designer and
producer of this year’s Jersey Awards theme and
promotional materials won 32 additional awards, including
13 first-place and six second-place trophies.

honors.
Best of Newspaper went to Livingston-based
The Cherenson Group for its four-color newspaper advertisement
“The only thing missing is every day low prices

additional citations, including three first-place and
one second-place award.
Topping the charts for the evening was
The Starr Group/M&M, which set an all-time record
for the number of Jersey Awards in a single competition
with 54 citations, including 21 first-place and 18 second-place
trophies. The Cherry Hill agency topped its own record
of 32 awards established last year. It also won the
Best of Magazine award for the four-color “Beans
Forever/Bean Art” advertisement produced for Lacas.
Guest presenter WCTC-AM talk show host
Judith Leblein joined perennial emcee Herb Barry in
presenting 246 newly redesigned awards selected from
over 600 entries submitted in this year’s competition.
Entries outscored last season’s totals both on
a volume and revenue basis due to the unique promotional
campaign and the online entry system, which simplified
and speeded up submissions.
