Scheer Advertising Takes Best of Show at 37th Annual Jersey Awards

Sheer Advertising’s single spot commercial for Burlington Coat Factory won Best of Show at the 37th Annual Jersey Awards dinner and ceremonies at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. The “Tuck” commercial also captured the Best of Television award, while “Mirrors,” a point-of-purchase display, was awarded Best of Collateral. The South Orange agency won a total of 22 awards, including ten first- and four second-place awards.

Best of Newspaper went to Gianettino & Meredith, Inc., for its NVE Bank campaign. Short Hills-based G&M amassed a total of 15 awards, including three first- and two second-place trophies.

Oxford Communications, Lambertville, won Best of Radio for its “Rita’s First Day of Spring” commercial for Rita’s Ice Water Franchise Corp., for a total of six citations, including two first- and two second-place awards.

Best of Magazine was captured by Brian J. Ganton & Associates for its “Crank It Up” trade magazine advertising campaign for Oldcastle Glass. The Cedar Grove agency won three additional awards, including two first- and one second-place awards.
A dynamic MC duo of Eric Scott of 101.5FM and Herb Barry of Titan Outdoor presented 219 awards selected from 587 entries posted in this year’s competition. Submissions topped the previous year on both a volume and income basis, due largely to the use of an online entry system for the first time.

THE STAR GROUP WINS A RECORD 32 AWARDS
The highest total of awards ever attained in Jersey Awards history was set by The Star Group with 32 awards. The Cherry Hill agency also amassed a record 17 first-place awards along with 12 second-place trophies. High awards totals were also scored by Ritta & Associates of Englewood with 15 citations, including six first- and six second-place trophies; S3 of Boonton with 12 citations, including five first- and four second-place awards; Brushfire of Whippany with eight awards, including three first- and three second-place trophies; and Masterminds Advertising, Inc., with seven awards, including one first- and four second-place citations.

Other multiple award winners are Sonnenberg Haviland & Partners with six citations; Brandspa LLC, The Cherenson Group, Commonwealth-Ferguson, Fiore Associates, Hammerhead Advertising, Linnett and Harrison, Rienzi & Rienzi Communications, and Sunspots Creative with five awards; and The Gráfica Group and Warm Thoughts Communications with four awards.
Three awards were captured by Block Advertising & Marketing, New Jersey City University and Wings Communications, while two awards went to Adient, CMD and Partners, Georgian Court University, Matheny Medical and Educational Center, MWW Group, Nirmala’s Kitchen Inc., Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, Terhune Design Studio and The Lunar Group.
Single awards were garnered by Banner deSign, Barth and Co. Design, Hackensack University Medical Center, Kerwin Associates, Miller/Poor Associates, Norman Diegnan, Paisley Enterprises Inc., Ruby Window Creative Group, Rutgers University, Sharon Vazir Terhune, Smith O’Keefe & Associates, The Marathon Group, Turchette Advertising Agency, United Jewish Communities of MetroWest New Jersey and Venessa Perez.

Judging was conducted at Gibbs College by a panel of judges from the Long Island Advertising Club. The 2005 awards theme, saluting the long list of impressive historical firsts achieved in New Jersey in a wide range of endeavors, was designed and produced by Oscar Betancur, Art Director, and Michael Catelli, Vice President, of The Star Group.
