R&J GROUP, Parsippany, has announced the promotion of KAVERY (SUNNY) SUBBAYYA from Art Director to Senior Art Director. With the agency for three years, Subbayya’s work on such accounts as Sony, Sharp, Nielsen Bainbridge and the NJ Organ & Tissue Sharing Network has been recognized for creative excellence by both the New Jersey Ad Club and the Art Directors Club of New Jersey. A graduate of The Sophia Polytechnic, Bombay, India, she previously worked with Saatchi & Saatchi (India) and Speer Communications, an affiliate of the TBWA International advertising group.

JOAN E. GERBERDING, President of Nassau Media Partners and spokesperson for the “Most Influential Women in Radio” (MIW) has announced the selection of four women to mentor as part of the second annual MIW Group Mentoring Program. The 2003 mentees are: Cindy Miller, Program Director, WABX/WYXY, South Central Communications, Evansville, IN; Lisa Korry Cheek, General Manager, KSMT, American General Media, Breckenridge, CO; Susan Austin, VP/Strategic Planning & Treasurer, Sheridan Broadcasting Corp., New York, NY; and Theresa Kennebrew, Senior Account Executive, Clear Channel Radio/Seattle, Seattle, WA.

SIGMA GROUP, Oradell, has been selected as the agency of record for Hackensack-based Global Investment Systems Ltd., a leading supplier of specialized accounting software to the investment fund industry.

SCHEER ADVERTISING GROUP/ NORMAN J. STEVENS ADVERTISING AGENCY, South Orange, has announced the addition of ANTHONY GRASSO to its staff as Production/Traffic Manager. Prior to joining the agency, Grasso worked for Cedant Corporation and DKB & Partners.

TURCHETTE ADVERTISING, Fairfield, has appointed DANIELLA LATHAM as Account Executive. In addition to managing a number of accounts, she will also be responsible for helping to develop new business. Prior to joining Turchette, Latham served as Associate Director, Integrated Marketing for Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, Inc. Before that she served as an Account Executive at Deutsch, Inc.

MASTERMINDS ADVERTISING, Egg Harbor Township, has announced the promotion of ANTHONY S. FORTUCCI from Account Coordinator to Account Executive. A graduate of Rutgers University School of Business with a BA in Marketing, Fortucci has been with the agency for three years. LEE ANN AUNGST and CHRISTOPHER G. MORGAN have also joined the agency as Account Executive and Account Coordinator, respectively. Aungst holds a B.A. in Marketing from Stockton State College, while Morgan has a B.S. in Business Administration from San Jose State University.

S3, Boonton, has been chosen as agency of record for Gateway Security, Newark, one of the top ten privately held companies in New Jersey. Gateway’s clients include corporate, medical, industrial and transportation companies.

GIANETTINO & MEREDITH, Short Hills, has hired MARY KIPKA as Account Coordinator. Kipka, who holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from Saint Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, comes to the agency from Intrepid USA Healthcare. As part of its Seminar/Workshop Series, G&M hosted “Radio for Breakfast,” featuring WCBS-FM radio icons “Cousin” Bruce Morrow, Bob Shannon and Pat St. John May 20. Held at the Yogi Berra Museum, Upper Montclair, the breakfast panel discussion focused on radio past, present and future, and current trends and research presented by G&M VP of Marketing and Strategic Services, Francine Lytle.

RITTA & ASSOCIATES, Englewood, has expanded its services to include video production and DVDs. The agency recently developed a video for new client, the Hudson Group, parent company of the Hudson News, to help launch the company into the Canadian marketplace. R&A has also been tapped to create a major project for window furnishing manufacturer Hunter Douglas and by the Jewish Home at Rockleigh to develop a branding campaign.

BRUSHFIRE, Whippany, has been appointed advertising agency of record for Thompson’s Water Seal, a leader in waterproofing and wood protection products. Headquartered in Upper Saddle River, the company is part of the Sherwin Williams Wood Care division.

ADERGY AGENCY, Westfield, (formerly John Howlett & Co.) has added five new clients to its agency roster. They include: Excel-Termite & Pest Control, Hackensack; Directory Advisors, River Edge; M.D. Logic, Cedar Grove; Blue Ribbon Pools, Linden; and C-A Employee Benefits Solutions of Whitehouse Station.

CREATIVE MARKETING ALLIANCE, Princeton Junction, was recognized for excellence at the Philly Gold Awards Ceremony on April 24. CMA received an award in the Sales Promo-Product or Services Category for its StatementOne Sales Kit/Folder.

LINETT & HARRISON, Millburn, recently completed a major outdoor branding campaign for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Parsippany. Billboards and mall display posters began appearing throughout NJ and Rockland County, NY, in January. Linett & Harrison has also created a major promotion for Bottle King Discount Liquors. The agency handled all print media planning and placement, as well as promotional and creative development.

DEIRDRE K. BREAKENRIDGE, Chief Operating Officer and Public Relations Director for PFS MARKETWYSE, Totowa, and THOMAS J. DELOUGHRY, a writer on the topic of the business of the Internet, have announced the publication of their book The New PR Toolkit: Strategies for Successful Media Relations, Prentice Hall, publisher.
