| Wake-Up Calls Continue
to Grow in Attendance and Prestige
Using a printing term, Beth
Riley, formerly with Verizon Mobile and now a sole entrepreneur,
urged her audience to “schedule white space for
yourself,” at the Ad Club’s 12th Wake-Up
Call workshop held January 26 at Borders Books Music
& Café in Livingston.
Among the many nuggets Ms. Riley shared were the need
for prioritizing to-do lists, learning to say no, balancing
between home and work, eliminating clutter in the mind
and the workspace, creating action files, and understanding
ourselves.
Elaborating on the white
space theme, Ms. Riley offered tips on how to make and
keep boundaries. Keep things simple, she admonished.
“Don’t make mountains out of molehills;
do what you can in an hour and start thinking about
how you reflect yourself to others.”
Always return phone calls,
she said, especially if you know the person. And if
you’re making cold phone calls, find out the best
time to call. Finally she suggested that the best way
to create an enjoyable environment is to determine “what
you value most and then make that a priority.”
