| April Smartalk to Feature
Influential Women
Sally Glick, Elizabeth Christopherson
and Diane Turton, three of the 25 Women of Influence
honored by njbiz February 8, will address Ad Club members
and guests at a luncheon meeting April 13 at Mayfair
Farms in West Orange.
As women are increasingly
moving into areas of influence and decision making in
corporate New Jersey and indeed throughout the world,
organizers of the Smartalk series asked the three speakers
to discuss their role as marketers and communicators
and their methods of bringing success to their companies.
Through Sally Glick, Chief
Marketing Officer at J. H. Cohn, the New Jersey-based
accounting firm has raised its profile using sharply
focused direct-mail campaigns, articles by partners
in influential trade publications and networking by
managers at public events.
Ms. Glick is a graduate of
Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and holds
an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Business
Management. Volunteer chair of the Meadowlands Chamber
of Commerce marketing committee, she lives in Basking
Ridge.
Elizabeth Christopherson
is CEO and executive director of New Jersey Network
and has been guiding that public broadcasting entity
since 1994 as its first female executive. Through her
efforts, cultural, educational and public affairs programs
have proliferated exponentially. NJN, for example, is
one of four stations working with the Federal Emergency
Management Agency to help create a reliable emergency
alert system for the nation.
Armed with an undergraduate
degree in Chinese language and studies from Wellesley
College, she held leadership positions in the arts,
education and nonprofit organizations. In addition,
she has served as chair of the New Jersey State Council
on the Arts, worked in planning and development for
Bloomfield College and has been a member of the board
of the Newark Boys Chorus. She lives in Morris County
with her husband and daughter.
Diane S. Turton is a realtor
and president of her own company, Diane Turton Realtors.
Founded in 1986, the company operates out of 24 offices,
including 22 in Monmouth and Ocean counties and two
in Florida. Her New Jersey locations have elevated her
to the enviable position of “doyenne of realtors”
along the NJ shore. In 2004 alone, revenue rose to more
than $1 billion, up from $915 million in 2003 and $745
million in 2002.
A native of Short Hills,
Turton graduated from Rider University with a bachelor’s
degree in real estate. Subsequently, because of her
sales and management skills, she is in great demand
as a motivational speaker. An achievement unrelated
to real estate is her loss of 150 pounds over the past
year and a half.
Joan Verplanck, president
of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, will serve as
moderator. Set for 11:30 am, the luncheon is sponsored
by the Ad Club in conjunction with the New Jersey chapter
of the Public Relations Society of America and Women
in Communications (Essex County chapter). To register
call 201. 998.5133 or visit the Events
